No.78 Bed & Breakfast

Environmental Policy
We get through a lot of energy and water and can produce large volumes of waste. In order to be more environmentally efficient we have carried out the following:
~We have signed up to EDF Energy’s ‘Green Tariff’ which replaces the units of electricity we use with electricity from a renewable source such as the turbines that can be seen at Scroby Sands.
~Light bulbs have been changed in the public areas and in the majority of rooms for energy efficient bulbs or dimmer switches.
~Toilets that don’t already have a 6 litre flush as standard, have been fitted with a ‘HIPPO’ which will save up to three litres per flush.
~Where possible, food used is from local producers, or producers within the UK to minimize the road miles.
~Using small airtight containers to contain loose tea bags, coffee and sugar (where possible) on your hospitality tray and fresh milk in insulated jugs/flasks to minimise waste caused by single serve beverages.
~Replaced ‘single use’ toiletries with pump dispensers to reduce waste – using better, more natural and more environmentally friendlier products (Faith in Nature – see links page). We will also be using soap cut from the block to reduce waste and packaging.
~Using environmentally friendly cleaning products.

We hope that you will join us in trying to reduce the impact we can have on the environment by doing the following:
~By placing paper/card, glass, tin, aerosol cans and plastic into the clear box provided in your room. All other items can go into the conventional waste bin also provided.
~Switching off all lights in your room that you are not using and making sure the television is switched off before you leave the room as well as any taps or showers.
~Re-using your towels for stays longer than one night.
~Bed linen is normally changed every three nights, unless it needs to be replaced sooner. If your stay is longer than three nights and you are happy to keep the same bed linen for the duration of your stay, please let us know.
~Soap will only be replaced with a new bar during your stay if it is necessary or you request it to be.
~Our radiators are set to approximately 19’c during the winter, however we accept that some people feel the chill more than others. Our radiators are all thermostatically controlled, and can be adjusted to the desired temperature – 5 being the hottest (approximately 28-30’c) and 0 being turned off.
